"MULTIDIMENSIONAL SIGNAL PROCESSING AND ANALYSIS SCHOOL: METHODS, ALGORITHMS, TECHNOLOGIES, APPLICATIONS"
New sensing technologies: 3D time-of-fight cameras and Fourier-slice photography with plenoptic cameras The 3D cameras measure the distance to objects by measuring the time it takes the emitted light to return from the reflecting object. I will present the basic principle and briefly the technological state of the art. Plenoptic cameras have one main lens for image formation and an array of microlenses in front of the image sensor. By this optical design, the cameras record light fields. We will understand the mathematical principles of Fourier-slice photography: a conventional image is a 2D cut in the 4D Fourier transform of the 4D light field. Different cuts correspond to different depth planes.
